The Big Picture:
Howden Reciprocating and Centrifugal compressors (HCR), is a specialist supplier of tailor-made gas compression equipment to various industries. Our products have made a valuable difference for our clients for the past 100 years. We are now looking for a Proposal Engineer for our Value Stream Diaphragm & Periflow Compressors who will join our team and assist us in making a valuable difference in the century to come by working in a company that is leading in the energy transition.
In the renewable, industrial and PCOG markets, the Proposal Engineer supports our business growth and profitability in the experienced Diaphragm & Periflow Compressors Sales and Proposals team in a global marketplace and in contact with the Regions. This is a unique opportunity to work with a highly motivated team to capture the growth opportunities in the renewable hydrogen market!
What needs to be done?
- Translating customer requirements into technical solutions with a customer-focused mindset;
- Studying customers RFQ’s;
- Being in contact with customers on technical requirements;
- Preparing technical proposals, cost price calculations and follow-up;
- Co-creating design concepts for the renewable hydrogen market, together with consultants and/or suppliers of complementary technology and equipment solutions;
- Preparing related technical proposal documents;
- Perform a technical transfer to the project team;
- Supporting the continuous improvement and development of tools, templates and methods;
- Assist during technical training of local Howden business units.

What do you need to bring?
- Relevant technical education (Bachelor degree Mechanical Engineering or similar).
- Technical knowledge, commercial understanding and creativity to find the best technical-commercial solution (thinking out of the box).
- We are open to a candidate with a deep personal interest in engineering and rotating equipment and preferably 5 years of experience in a similar position or organization. We are willing to consider an enthusiastic and fast-learning technical & commercial talent who will be trained to become fully performing in the position within 12 months;
- A continuous improvement mindset: seek, propose, try, evaluate and implement improvements throughout the proposal process.
- A technical-commercial Interest in a broad range of disciplines (rotating, mechanical, systems and processes).
- Excellent interpersonal skills including an open and engaging communication style.
- Team player, responsible, flexible and a self-starter.
- Good in setting priorities and strong time management skills.
- Fluency in English, Dutch language skills (reading) are preferred.
- Willingness to travel internationally 5% of the time.
